USC has welcomed Beong-Soo Kim as its new president, who has made a clear statement regarding the future of head coach Lincoln Riley. Following a recent loss to Oregon and several underwhelming performances, there has been growing concern among fans about Riley’s position.
USC would face a $70 million buyout should they decide to part ways with Riley. In a profile by the LA Times, Kim refrained from confirming whether USC would consider such a hefty expense, stating, “We’re not thinking about that. We are laser focused on the next game, and then the game after that.” Since signing a 10-year, $110 million contract in 2021, Riley has yet to lead the team to a College Football Playoff appearance. Despite the ongoing struggles, USC maintains a 6-1 record this season and continues to compete for a postseason spot.
