The Welshman seeking NBA title with Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves have achieved a record of three wins out of six during the pre-season, as they prepare for the upcoming NBA season. With eight different champions in the last eight years, predicting the recipient of the Larry O’Brien Trophy for June remains a challenge. In this competitive landscape, Tim Lewis, the first British-born assistant coach in the NBA, has his sights set on bringing that trophy home to Minnesota alongside head coach Chris Finch.

Lewis, originally from Saint Asaph in Wales, has had a varied basketball career, which includes coaching national teams in Thailand and Qatar and gaining experience in several countries, including Japan where he most recently led the Eneos Sunflowers to the Empress Cup. His extensive coaching career includes working with England and Great Britain teams, alongside Finch during the 2012 Olympics. After a brief return to Minnesota, Lewis has accepted a more significant role, focusing on offensive game strategies and player development, particularly with young big men. As the Timberwolves prepare to face tough opponents early in the season, Lewis shares the team’s ambition of clinching the NBA title by 2027.
