Possible Lakers Comeback for 2020 Champion and All-Defensive Player

The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly eyeing Alex Caruso as a potential trade target as they grapple with ongoing perimeter defense issues. With rumors suggesting the team may pursue options to bolster their backcourt, Caruso, currently with the Oklahoma City Thunder, could be a familiar name on their radar. The Thunder’s recent contract extension for Cason Wallace, worth five years and $139 million, complicates their salary cap situation, potentially making Caruso expendable as they manage multiple near-max contracts.

Despite being a cornerstone for the Thunder in recent seasons, Caruso’s future could be uncertain. The Lakers have been linked to him before and may seek to reclaim the former champion, who played a pivotal role during their 2020 championship run. With Caruso’s defensive accolades and history with Los Angeles, he represents a strong candidate to address the team’s needs if the Thunder choose to move him.
