Collin Sexton, guard for the Los Angeles Lakers, is advancing towards his return to the game after experiencing a lower-leg injury during the team’s training camp. He participated in all segments of the Lakers’ practice on Thursday, with head coach JJ Redick noting that Sexton is “trending in the right direction” for the season opener against the Golden State Warriors on October 22.
Sexton signed a two-year, $19.2 million contract with the Lakers this offseason, expected to be a vital part of the backcourt rotation. The 2026-27 season marks his ninth year in the NBA after prior tenures with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Utah Jazz, Charlotte Hornets, and Chicago Bulls. Last season, he averaged 15.4 points and is known for his 3-point shooting ability, making 40.1% from beyond the arc, which the Lakers aim to capitalize on this year.
