Will Kings Struggle To Score in Back-To-Back Seasons?

The Sacramento Kings concluded the preseason with disappointing offensive numbers, averaging only 102.8 points per game and failing to score over 100 points in two of their games. The team marked its highest score of the preseason, 110 points, in a game against the Los Angeles Lakers on October 8. Several starters, including Domantas Sabonis and Ben Simmons, participated in limited games, which contributed to the lack of scoring prowess.

Head Coach Doug Christie emphasized player health over performance during the preseason, leading to substantial playtime for lesser-known rotation players. Sacramento managed to score 56 points by halftime in a recent matchup with the Golden State Warriors, yet their overall scoring struggles continue to raise alarms. The Kings’ reliance on scoring helped break a 16-year playoff drought during the 2022-23 season; however, this season’s early numbers reflect a concerning regression in offensive efficiency.
