Why Fernando Mendoza Won’t Play Against the Bills Today

Fernando Mendoza will not be taking the field for the Las Vegas Raiders today during their matchup against the Buffalo Bills. After an impressive debut last week, fans were hopeful for his return. However, his participation will largely depend on how the game unfolds and the status of veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins.
Mendoza, the No. 1 overall draft choice, remains healthy and is positioned as the backup. As per the Week 6 depth chart on Raiders.com, Cousins is the starter, with Mendoza second and Aidan O’Connell third. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:25 p.m. PT on CBS.
In his previous outing, Mendoza played during garbage time against the New England Patriots, completing six of eight passes for 48 yards. Despite a significant deficit, head coach Klint Kubiak noted Mendoza’s preparedness and quick decision-making. Cousins, with impressive stats including 12 touchdown passes this season, is maintaining his starting role for now, leaving Mendoza awaiting his chance.
