As the deadline for a potential Connor Hellebuyck trade draws near, analysts highlight three teams as the most probable suitors for the Winnipeg Jets’ goaltender. In the latest episode of the 32 Thoughts Podcast, insider Elliotte Friedman identified the Buffalo Sabres, New York Rangers, and Utah Mammoth as the frontrunners for Hellebuyck’s services.
Friedman pointed out that Buffalo has long been interested in Hellebuyck and that he is amenable to a trade there. Surprisingly, he indicated that the Rangers could influence the situation despite not being actively interested in acquiring Hellebuyck. Their general manager, Chris Drury, has the potential to initiate a “chain reaction” that might lead to Hellebuyck’s trade. Additionally, Friedman mentioned the possibility of the Rangers pursuing Utah’s Karel Vejmelka, which could subsequently impact Hellebuyck’s future. Meanwhile, Carolina Hurricanes and LA Kings are also mentioned as peripheral options, though their chances appear slim at this time.
