Top 8 Candidates to Succeed Shane Steichen as Colts Head Coach

The Indianapolis Colts are facing the possibility of hiring their 23rd head coach in franchise history, as Shane Steichen’s tenure appears to be in jeopardy. Co-owner and CEO Carlie Irsay-Gordon has reportedly put both Steichen and long-time GM Chris Ballard on alert, given the team’s underperformance in the 2026 NFL season.

Currently holding a 2-4 record through Week 6, the Colts started the season with two losses and experienced a disappointing end to the previous year, missing the playoffs after a seven-game losing streak. After a recent loss to the Titans, Steichen’s future is uncertain, leading to speculation about possible replacements. Notable candidates include Chris Shula, Anthony Campanile, Brian Flores, and Jim Harbaugh, each bringing varying levels of experience and success to the table.
