Singer D4vd appears in court in teen girl's murder case

A judge scheduled another status conference for Jan. 11 regarding singer D4vd, who is charged with the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Authorities found her dismembered and decomposed remains in the trunk of Burke’s Tesla at a Hollywood tow yard.

Burke, 21, pleaded not guilty to murder and additional charges connected to Celeste’s death on Aug. 31. His current representation comes from the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office after three private attorneys withdrew from the case. Following a preliminary hearing in July, Judge Charlaine Olmedo determined enough evidence existed for the case to proceed to trial. Burke faces allegations including lying in wait, financial gain from the murder, continuous sexual abuse of a minor, and the mutilation of human remains. Celeste’s family has called for the death penalty, expressing their belief in Burke’s lack of conscience and emotional detachment.
