The Los Angeles Rams have made the decision to sign kicker Brandon McManus in an effort to resolve their kicking issues, which have stemmed from both inconsistent performance and health concerns.
In 2026, the Rams released Harrison Mevis after he struggled with two missed field goals during a loss to the Buffalo Bills. They initially brought in Blake Grupe to stabilize the situation, but he suffered a torn ACL while attempting a tackle on a kickoff. Consequently, the team had to find a replacement and worked out veteran kickers Brandon McManus and Matt Prater.
Ultimately, they opted for McManus, who has 12 years of NFL experience, playing 186 games. Last season with the Packers, he successfully converted 80% of his field-goal attempts, including 3 out of 5 from beyond 50 yards. Throughout his career, he maintains an 82% field-goal success rate and a remarkable 97.4% on extra points.
Regarding Grupe, he is scheduled for surgery and aims to make a return to the NFL. In a post on Instagram, he expressed disappointment about his time in LA but remains determined to rehabilitate and return stronger.
