Henrietta Is a Casually Excellent Neighborhood Restaurant

Henrietta is a welcoming all-day deli, market, and restaurant located at the junction of Echo Park and Westlake, sharing its space with Clark Street Bakery and a Good Used Book. Max Lesser, the owner, brings experience from Chicago’s The Publican and Los Angeles’ Chi Spacca, while chef Alexis Brown has a background from the now-closed Alimento. By day, customers can enjoy a selection of sandwiches made with bread from Clark Street Bakery, alongside refreshing drinks like drip coffee and hibiscus lemonade. At night, the atmosphere transforms into a cozy candlelit bistro featuring some of the city’s finest roast chickens, highlighting the richness of California’s culinary offerings.

For lunch, patrons can savor a variety of sandwiches such as the chicken Milanese, which combines crispy breaded chicken with radicchio and Caesar aioli, or the Shredder, stacked with spicy capicola, Comté, and dill pickles. Henrietta also stands out with its refreshing crudo dish, enhancing the acidity and spice to elevate the flavor. Meat enthusiasts can delight in the beef tartare toast, generously topped with smoky romesco on toasted sourdough. The ricotta dumplings, though humble in appearance, offer a comforting taste experience. Among its specialties is the Zuni-inspired half chicken, served with a chicory Caesar panzanella and a side of Parmesan-laden Henrietta potatoes. The restaurant’s inviting decor and buzz from diners create a delightful atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for regular visits.
